Nokia and Intel are expected to more ‘intimate’ in developing MeeGo, the cross-platform OS. Ovum analyst report, MeeGo still need a big investment if you want to win the platform war against Apple, Google, or Microsoft.
Introduced last February, MeeGo is a new OS that combines Intel’s Moblin OS with Nokia’s Linux Maemo. With the flexibility offered by both parties, developers are expected to more easily create new applications, both for the Motorola or Intel in the future.
Based on the written statement received Twitteling, Wednesday (02/06/2010) Ovum analyst Tony Cripps said that the volume and variety of devices built on MeeGo, would seem insignificant when the OS is not offset basic capabilities of multi-screen applications for developers. Therefore both parties must be more compact.
“The fact is now Nokia and Intel need to sell more devices that will support MeeGo,” he said.
In this case Ovum believes that Nokia and Intel should have ignored the war in the smartphone arena, and focus on their development problems. “Sell out the promise is not enough and not easy, because it takes a big investment,” concluded Cripps.
