Install Microsoft Office 2007 in Ubuntu

One of the problems that arise due to migration from Windows to Ubuntu, is the format DOCX, PPTX, and so forth. The format is it can be opened using Open Office 3.2 and above. But unfortunately, the best view is obtained if opened with Microsoft Office 2007 and above. Yes it is clear, the original software. A. Check the version of Wine
To check the version of Wine, do the following:

1. Open a terminal, one of them by clicking Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal.
2. In the terminal window, type “wine-version”.

After that, you’ll receive two possibilities:

1. If you have not installed Ubuntu Wine, it would appear the message “The program ‘wine’ is currently not installed. Can you install it by typing: sudo apt-get install wine. bash: wine: command not found “. If so, you can go straight to step D.
2. If you are using Wine version 1.1.12 – 1.1.16 or 1.1.24 above, you may go to step C.
3. If you are using Wine version 1.1.11 or 1.1.17 to bottom – 1.1.23, you will not be able to install Ms Office 2007. Proceed to step B.

B. Uninstall Wine
You can do this by two ways. The first, namely through Synaptice Package Manager (Click System -> Administration -> Package Manager Synaptice). Wine Search, and uninstall it as usual. The second way is to use the terminal, type “sudo apt-get remove wine”.

C. Delete the folder. Wine
In this step, you will delete the folder wines. That means all the programs you have installed via wine will also be deleted. There are two ways as well. The first open the home folder, type Ctrl + H (to show hidden folders), then delete the folder. “Wine”. The second way is to use the terminal, type “rm-rf~./.wine’.

D. Install wine
Wine can be described as an additional layer for Windows-based applications to be executed. How to install are as follows.

1. Download http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/index.html wines from their site and select the version you want (1.1.12 – 1.1.16 or 1.1.24 +).
2. When finished, double click and install the program. If you are using Ubuntu they are new, perhaps Wine will do some update to run.

E. Install Microsoft Office 2007

1. Enter your CD Ms Office 2007, locate the setup.exe file, run the file. If it fails, you can do it with right click, open with other application, select Wine Windows Program Loader. If you are using the ISO, I recommend using AcetoneISO.
2. Enter your license, and install as usual.

Note: if you fail in this process, do not go to step F. Repeat from the beginning.

F. Install Winetricks
Winetricks is in addition to Wine.

1. Install winetricks from your terminal by typing “sudo wget www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks”
2. Install cabextract to extract the files from the archive of Office, by typing in terminal “sudo apt-get install cabextract”

After that, install some files needed by the MS Office 2007, namely:

• Corefonts – installs MS Arial, Courier and Times fonts
• Tahoma – Tahoma installs fonts
• Vcrun2005sp1 – installs the MS Visual C + + 2005 sp1 libraries
• Wsh56js – installs MS Windows scripting 5.6, jscript only, no scripts

The trick is to type in the terminal, “sh winetricks corefonts vcrun2005sp1 wsh56js Tahoma.”

G. Configuring Wine
To be able to run MS Office with good, you have to do a little configuration. Click Applications -> Wine -> Configure Wine, or type in terminal “winecfg”.

1. In the libraries tab, type “riched20″ and then click Add, and type “usp10″ and then click Add again.
2. Click on “riched20″, click Edit and change to “native windows”. Click Apply and Ok.

H. Microsoft Office 2007 Test
Open Microsoft Office Word 2007. Click Applications -> Wine -> Programs-> Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Word 2007, if successful it is completed.

I. Computer Restart
