HD Radio
A nice new application from Apple focused around HD Radio, a wireless radio format that allows both AM and FM radio stations serving the digital and analog audio in the same channel.
Hint patents in the future this handset from Apple to include HD Radio, which allows users to have greater flexibility when listening to music on your iPhone or iPod. HD Radio has been rumored for a long time to be inserted into the iPhone and the iPod, especially when Apple finally put an FM radio in the latest iPod nano.
With HD radio on the iPod and iPhone, Apple can allow users to tag their songs on the radio, which is currently the iPod nano allows users to perform. iPod competitor, Zune (Microsoft) displays HD Radio, which is a feature that was advertised when the product debuted.
Entitled “Digital Radio Tagging Using an RF Tuner Accessory,” the application states that the user can use a handheld device to scan all stations, or only for high-quality content delivery station digital audio. Collect a list of digital stations and “the raw digital data broadcasting” with them will allow users to scan and search for stations based on content that is being played, or a number of other factors included in the data.
