About gmdb2
If the DOC, XLS and PPT can be easily opened and edited in Ubuntu with OpenOffice.org, the other as if thirsty dealing with files that typically have access MDB extension.
There are two choices of applications that can be used to handle the MDB file.
1. Kexi
This application is one part of the KOffice which is used in the KDE environment, because the default desktop manager than Gnome Ubuntu is, so to install Kexi should add as well its dependencies are not small. This becomes a problem for users with limited internet connection and not have a DVD repository.
2. MDBTools
With the needs of resource (the installation file size) is relatively small, this application becomes the right choice to simply open the MDB file. However, the relatively small size was making ability is also limited.
I currently use Ubuntu with gmdb2 Lucid-0.6pre1. Installation is very easy through Synaptic, and after that can be opened through the Office menu.
Loading a brief and simple look has attracted at first sight. So it is with easy to open an Access 2007 database that in-protectionism without asking for a password that is saved.
Available buttons to see the structure and the data therein as well as export to CSV format in a way that spelled out very easily.
The problem arises when trying to facilities from the Tools menu MDB Query-SQL Window. Applications close after the button is pressed Query executive. Maybe this happens because the application is still version 0.6pre1, and definitely better in the future.

MDB 20File 20Viewer
Another weakness of this application only as a viewer only, so only can see but can not change the data in it.
