Twitter is now the site search engine with the fastest growth rates. Biz Stone, founder of Twitter microblogging site revealed that its site is now serving 24 billion searches per month.

This amount is far different from those obtained by the site’s search engine to Microsoft, Bing serving only 4.1 billion. While Yahoo only has about 9.4 billion searches.

Last year, Nielsen research institute found that Bing was the site of the fastest growing search engine, which is as much as 22 percent. However, since last April, Twitter started to shift with growth of 33 percent. While the site search engine Google still remained in the top position by serving as many as 88 billion searches per month.

Search performed on Twitter itself is intended to find information in real time. For that, long before Google and Twitter have been embraced as a partner Bing information search.


As quoted from the Telegraph, Saturday (10/07/2010), Evan Williams as Chief Executive Twitter said that his company was increasingly focused on improving the ability of search engine services. He also added that there are special teams who are actively dedicated to making the search more intuitive.

“We work to obtain relevant information better,” said Williams. “We know many people who use search engines and consume information through Twitter tweeting and not to just be. For that, we need to make this service is as good as other search engines to produce relevant searches,” the lid.
