Microsoft reportedly is planning to cooperate more ‘intimate’ with the company’s ARM processor. Of course, this becomes a question mark in some circles.
The reason is the cooperation between Microsoft and ARM processor enables the use of a new generation that will be designed for smartphones, tablets and even gaming consoles. Reticence software giant is, of course more to make people curious.
However, a spokesman for ARM Antonio Viana see that agreement as an affirmation, or “extension” of the 14-year strong relationship between the two companies.
“Microsoft is currently supporting multiple operating systems based on ARM architecture. This license agreement will enhance the development activities for ARM-based products,” said Antonio, as quoted by TG Daily, Saturday (24/07/2010).
“Now, for the ARM is all very interesting because it underscores our momentum. It really speaks volumes about our position in the market. So, we are quite pleased at the ARM side, as this is definitely a validation of our business model,” he added.
Not surprisingly, the absence of Microsoft and ARM roadmap to the public has led many analysts, journalists and bloggers to speculate about the intentions of Microsoft.
For example, Sarah Friar, an analyst at Goldman Sachs, told the Bloomberg deal could allow Microsoft to challenge the tablets are so popular that Apple iPad, which is an ARM-based tablets.
