Netflix DVD movie Application, Netflix DVD Movie Rental Launches a New Application for iPhone and iPod TouchNetflix DVD movie rental introduced a new application for iPhone and iPod Touch that allows the users to watch TV shows and movies in their Apple devices.

Netflix DVD movie rental, which is battling against the growing number of competitors, introduced its newest application and made it available on Apple’s App Store on Thursday. The app download is free of charge but the users need a Netflix subscription, which starts at $8.99 per month, to use the application.

The new application introduced by Netflix can send TV shows and movies through a 3G wireless connection or over Wi-Fi. They did not mention about the size of the library. Content providers need to negotiate for separate licenses for the delivery on mobile devices.

According to reports, Netflix is moving aggressively to further expand its applications and offers on mobile. Netflix announced last July that it has made a deal to stream selected movies coming from the Hollywood Studio Relativity Media before they will be released on DVDs. Netflix is the first in its industry to make a deal with the Hollywood Studio with regard to streaming movies. Netflix also announced that it has added shows from Epix, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and pay-TV channel.

Aside from expanding its contents, Netflix is also expanding its scope on consumer electronics. As of today, users can now access the library of Netflix with the use of Blu-ray players, Apple iPad, televisions and personal computers. According to the company, almost 61 percent of its 15 million subscribers are using its online service.

Netflix aggressively expands its scope because of increasing number of competitors in its industry. Netflix is threatened by its competitors ranging from Redbox movie-rental vending machines to Coinstar, cable TV providers that are continuously expanding their services in mobile devices.
