President of the United States, Barack Obama, has launched a contest aimed at video games as a medium of learning. Both the kids, or even the developers of the game also became participants in the competition.
Contest titled the National Science Technology Engineering and Math (National STEM) is, indeed promoting education for young people in play, or even create a game.
“I’m very proud with the National STEM Video Game Challenge for innovation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It certainly can strengthen the leadership of America in the 21st century,” Obama said, quoted ole from Toms Guide, Tuesday (21 / 9 / 2010).
The competition is divided into two categories namely, Starter and Developer. To Beginners, participants consisted of children from grade five through eight who fight over a prize of EUR 50 thousand, or approximately USD 450 million. This category will test the creativity of participants in designing a game.
For the Developer category, ie a bit bigger prize of USD 100 thousand. Category that followed these young developers, requires participants to make games for the kids.
