A research study found the presence of the digital books (eBooks), it can spur children to read more books.
Research conducted educational media company Scholastic and consulting firm Harrison Group asked 1,000 children and their parents to participate were surveyed.
Quoted by Twitteling by Reuters on Friday (1/10/2010), they studied the difference of opinion between parents and children about the use of technology that impact the lack of time to read.
About 40% of parents believe that the time spent online on a mobile device will reduce the time to read books or physical activity of
other. while 33% are admitted into less time with his family when they’re stuck in cyberspace.
Contrary to the opinions of parents before, the study actually found that children are increasingly encouraged to read books by using the device technology. As many as 57%, of children admitted more pleasure from reading digital books.
“A lot of kids that we met tried to spend time reading a fun book with digital books,” said Francie Alexander as the academic head of Scholastic.
“The technology in the digital book not only helps them become better at reading but also helps prepare them to read text that’s even harder in school and in college,” he concluded.
