YouTube Leanback, YouTube product for television, remote control now has a complement in the form of the YouTube Remote mobile applications for Android.
Android applications are designed so that users can control the YouTube via remote control. “It’s like having a cable High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is not visible from your phone to the television,” says senior product manager, Kuan Yong. Similarly, as quoted by Mashable.
This application, which is temporarily available in the Android Marketplace for U.S. consumers, allowing users to browse and play video, control volume and do everything that is supported YouTube Leanback through their mobile handsets.
While the YouTube Remote is a mobile application just for Android. The same functionality on Android applications, however, said that YouTube is being treated for Remote YouTube mobile site and will soon be accessible to all users of smart phones.
YouTube collaboration program also includes courses for the YouTube Remote, according to a senior engineering manager, Ramesh Sarukkai. This application allows users to control and to queue video for YouTube Leanback.
Sarukkai and Yong described the YouTube Remote as part of a real-time communications platform is bigger, where as many variations YouTube devices can communicate with each other without a connection.
This beta application is an addition to the product Leanback, which is expected to help sell the value of YouTube in the living room to enjoy through the Google TV.
