Hovercards: New Features Of Twitter

Thursday, December 30th 2010. | Twitter Info

On February 3 Date ago, Twitter announced a new feature called Hovercards. Twitter writes on their blog, this feature offers a new UI for the Tweeters that allow users to view other user profiles directly from your Twitter time line.

This feature has not run for all users, only certain Twitter users, like Twitter always do, for a new feature launched.

Hovercards will work when you move the cursor to another user avatar or user name after the @ symbol, there will be a small pop-ups or the so-called card which contains information about the user.

One of the reasons why Twitter launched this feature because many users are using Twitter to read and write tweets, if we want to see the profile of someone you must click on the avatar or user name and open a new tab. This feature serves to cut a few steps, so the user can still read the tweet on their time line, looking at the profile and interact with other users.

Also Hovercards allows you to send a DM to people who you follow, because Hovercards provide additional pop-ups that will provide other information more complete.

I feel this feature appears somewhat late, because for me and maybe you are using third-party applications or Twitter clients like HootSuite, for example, this function has long appeared, of course with different formats but similar functions, such as in HootSuite when you click on the name user or their avatar will pop up a small box containing a user profile, including features to follow, unfollow, DM, reply and Add To List, as well as various other information such as address data the user site if they fill in their Twitter profile.

So what so special with this new feature? One of the few advantages that I can see is, this feature would be very useful for those who use Twitter via the web to interact with them in their relationship rather than twitter client. They are fanatical using Twitter application on the Web or are not familiar with third-party applications, I think it would be very pleased with this feature.

Or, it could be on Twitter to target new users who have just discovered Twitter and started craze to use this facility. I agree with the article at The Next Web that discuss these new features, feature Hovercards recently launched, and still to a limited user, but this feature is one indication of Twitter, that perhaps they will launch other features that help the to maximize their users to interact using Twitter, especially for Tweeters using Twitter web.

How about you, if you include one of the users who are given the opportunity to use this feature, if so you can give your opinion on the comments column. Or you have another opinion about the features of this twiiter, you can also share it to other readers by writing Twitteling your comments on the comments column.
