Research in Motion (RIM) will improve the design of the screen on the BlackBerry smartphone by the way acquired a Swedish design firm, The Astonishing Tribe (TAT).
“We want to improve the quality of the look and functionality on the screen before the launch of the Playbook,” wrote Chief Technology Officer of RIM, David Yach on the company blog was quoted as saying by Reuters.
The Astonishing Tribe are known with a good interface design innovation. Interface design has been used for more than 20 percent of smartphones that circulate around the globe and use a variety of platforms, such as Google Android, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Samsung. The presence of TAT teams within RIM, according to Yach, will collaborate to create devices that are very impressive and more stylish than the devices made by competitors.
RIM plans to launch a 7-inch tablet device with Playbook name early next year. The tablet is reportedly able to compete with Apple iPad who now control the world market sales of tablet computers with 85 percent market share.
Unfortunately, a company based in Waterloo, Canada is not stated how the value of its acquisition of TAT and what the deal is approved by both parties. In addition to TAT, RIM has bought a number of technology companies to meet their needs.
Some names that have joined are QNX Software that will strengthen the operating system and Torch Mobile Playbook that allows RIM to upgrade your web browser. The proof is Torch Mobile Company has applied this technology WebKit based browser on the new BlackBerry Torch was launched last October.
