Apple Authorized Service Provider has provided services to the liquid sensor for all iPod and iPhone products.
As quoted from the site igeneration.fr, devices like the Apple iPhone, iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod shuffle has a liquid contacts indicator (LCI) at the bottom of the headphone jack. Sensor changes color from white or silver to red or pink, indicating that the device is contaminated water.
When the user checks the non-functional features on a cell phone or iPod unit, can use a flashlight to look into the magnifying device, whether the sensor has changed color. The sensor will not be active when exposed to changes in temperature or humidity.
But the policy has sparked criticism because of the sensitivity of alleged censorship. In 2009, there were news reports indicate that the sweat from the palms of the hands or while exercising can trigger the LCI.
