Manufacturer Huawei and ZTE to remain a strong player in the market for cellular modems, let alone the prospects for this market has matured.

Format USB modem is the mainstay of mobile modem, although the general opinion that the devices embedded in laptops will take over. According to analysis from ABI Research, the USB format is expected to reach 125 million shipments in 2013.

Quoted by Softpedia, the manufacturer is hoping that netbook sales will drive the market with a modem, although the result is less than expected by the vendor.

Now hopes are pinned on the tablet just like the iPad, which is expected to become more successful platform for embedded modem directly.

“intense interest in the tablet has raised hopes that the USB modem module will have a higher level or more significant than other system types,” said Jeff Orr researcher ABI Research.

General market has shown signs of improvement from the USB commoditised segments such as Huawei and ZTE to collect a better market share again.
