Kineck
A group of students from the University of Konstanz, Germany, has a way to utilize Kinect. Not to play the game as usual, but the Xbox controller is modified into a tool of vision for the physically blind.
How, the student will take advantage of infrared technology in Kinect camera to capture images. Then the data is successfully recorded was processed through a laptop and translated into audio instruction, and then distributed via bluetooth headset.
The result? Based on the experiments conducted, Kinect able to recognize some environmental conditions. For example, winding road, or a stalemate. Not only that, this tool is also able to measure the distance between the user with the object in front.
For instance, if you walk toward the door of its output would read, “See you at the door on the count of 3,2,1, open the door now,” wrote the student on its official blog.
Quoted from Slashgear, thereby promised to help the blind navigate. And this finding is called the Navigational Aids for the Visually Impaired (NAVI).
