In Hong Kong there is an integrated area which has many nice places for sightseeing. Is the Discovery Bay (DB), a region that is a combination of housing development and private and public recreational facilities. This area covers an area of 650 hectares, including the Gulf and the Gulf of Pak Tai Yi Pak.
You can find the DB in the northeast of Lantau Island in the New Territories. If you’ve been there, the following brief guide:
1. Walk
Discovery Bay feels like a resort, it’s because this area was originally planned to become one, before the first developer went bankrupt in the late 1970s. Work then resumed in 1979, with the construction of thousands of housing units, artificial beaches, schools, clubs, shopping facilities and public transport networks managed by a single company.
If the first visit to Discovery Bay is now home to more than 16,000 people, you will find the number of vehicles that are not a lot. That’s because the ban on private cars that make the environment more clean and quiet.
With the fresh air, you can enjoy moments of pleasant walking. Or want to go around by bus or bicycle, it’s up to you.
2. Indie craft fair
Arts and crafts group in Hong Kong makes the Discovery Bay as a place for seasonal events DB DB Backyard Bazaar, which became a gathering place for dozens of crafters, artists and independent traders from all over the city. This bazaar will be held again on March 20, 2011.
3. Dine in the D-Deck
D-Deck is a fun place to hang out. There are 13 restaurants, bars, cafes and bakeries that face the plaza on one side and the bay on the other. Places you can go is mcsorley if you want to order a burger or other menu with prices ranging from HKD151-HKD300. Or Dymocks Gallery Cafe if you want to order coffee and cake with prices ranging from HKD41-HKD100.
Oiya, do not forget to save your receipt if you spend more than HKD100 on one of 13 restaurants in the D-Deck because you will get a free ride the ferry when it returns to center DB.
4. Buy a book and then go to the beach
Once you find the novel in a bookstore in DB immediately walked toward the beach filled with shady trees. Read a book under the lush foliage will surely be fun.

5. Hiking Discovery Bay

One of the easiest paths you can go through is from the Discovery Bay ferry pier to the Silvermine Bay Mui Wo. Half of this route is easily passed the open road but you also will find the road uphill and steep stairs. During the trip, you also will pass the Trappist Haven Monastery.
How to Discovery Bay
Discovery Bay has the most comfortable ferry service in Hong Kong. Ferries will start the journey from Central Pier 2 (check schedule here). For all your travel will be charged HKD31. You also can take a bus from the airport to Discovery Bay, Tung Chung and Sunny Bay.
