Iconia-Tab-A500
Acer seems confident heyday in the form of a conventional computer is over. Aggressive plans in the tablet arena began in the Taiwan-based company.
The conviction was delivered JT Wang, Acer’s chairman who replaced temporarily as CEO Gianfranco Lanci Apple. As quoted by Bloomberg, Acer will focus on the tablet.
Wang plans to restructure for Acer to develop products more than just a laptop. One is a tablet Iconia Tab A500 which will be present on April 24, 2011.
“We may not be able to return to the glory of those days, if you rely on sales of notebooks and netbooks we can only get single-digit growth compared to 20-30 percent in the past,” said Wang.
Wang said Acer has aggressive plans to enter the tablet market in the next two years.
Iconia Tab A500 uses the Android operating system, aka Honeycomb 3.0. A device with 10.1-inch screen that has a WiFi connection, two camera and 16GB storage. Tab Iconia A500 uses Nvidia Tegra processors 2.
