Currently YouTube is testing a design via the “incubator of ideas” they, TestTube. The experiment was launched on Thursday through their blog is called Cosmic Panda. Dark shades and colors seemed to dominate the look of the homepage.
“We’re always testing new things on YouTube with the aim of improving the user experience to explore the site’s overall performance,” said a spokesman for YouTube. “We encourage all users for try this experiment and tell us what they think.”
As you enter the page Cosmic Panda, YouTube will give you the option for access the video (Nyan Cat), channel (The Young Turks, The Cheezburger Network or HBO), and playlist (Rick Roll collection). Basically, the changes appear not too drastic. When you watch the video for example, the video will be shown with a black background (not white). Suggested videos and comments are located below the video, and video related is located on the right. If observed, this new design looks more elegant than ever.
When you select a channel, the new header looks polished in such a way, looks more clean and “professional”. While on playslist not much visible difference, except the new version allows you for resize the video more easily. How do you think? Is this new design is better than ever?
